About
Andrea DeMers makes paintings and drawings that explore unexpected visual relationships and allude to ambiguous and indecipherable narratives. She received her BFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Selected exhibitions include the Hyde Park Art Center (Chicago), Gallery 400 (the University of Illinois at Chicago), Carl Hammer Gallery (Chicago), the Evanston Art Center (Evanston, IL) and the New York Armory Show (NYC). She is a recipient of an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship Award and The Drawing Center Viewing Program Award (NYC). In addition to her art, Andrea has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and curated exhibitions at the non-profit Gallery 312 in Chicago. From 2010-2020 she took time away from her art career to build a business designing and managing vintage home renovations. She is thrilled to have returned to her art practice in full with renewed energy and perspective.
